Whether you run a startup or a large business, sales funnels are critical to helping
you scale your revenue and grow your business. The right sales funnel strategy can
help you automate your marketing processes and convert more prospects into
customers. This article will introduce you to sales funnels, give you a basic
understanding of how they work and help you create the right kind of sales funnel
for your business.
A sales funnel is a series of steps that potential customers go through to move from
awareness to action and ultimately to purchase. The traditional four stages of a
sales funnel are awareness/attraction, interest, evaluation/decision and purchase.
At the top of your sales funnel, you need to capture audience attention. This can be
done by putting relevant content in front of your target audience. You can do this
with organic (website, blog posts, email, social media) or paid (search engine
optimisation, ads) strategies. The important thing is that you align these strategies
with the interests and needs of your audience.
Once you have captured audience attention, the next stage is to encourage your
prospects to go deeper into the funnel by sharing educational and valuable content.
This can be through content that demonstrates how your product or service is
unique, how it solves problems and how it compares to similar products. This can be
achieved through blogs, videos, infographics and white papers. You can also use a
personalised approach with your audiences by using a CRM that offers real-time
data updates and customer engagement tools.
You can then move your prospects to the evaluation and decision stage by providing
them with the information they need to make a purchasing decision. This can be
through case studies, ungated resources and webinars. You can even offer demos
and trials of your product at this point to help them decide if it’s the right fit for their
needs.
Once your prospective buyers have evaluated and decided to buy, you can continue
the conversation with them with recurring communication that builds loyalty and
creates repeat business. For example, through promotional offers and newsletters.
Depending on your products and services, you may have additional bottom of the
funnel stages after purchase designed to foster repeat business through re-
engagement campaigns.
The importance of having a clear and effective sales funnel cannot be overstated.
Having the right sales funnel in place can drastically improve your prospect to
customer conversion rate and your overall sales performance.
We recommend you take the time to understand and implement a sales funnel that works for your business. This will save you a lot of time and effort and will boost your sales success
significantly.
